THE FILM
""It has been sighted 42,000 times in 68 countries, a vicious creature of myth and legend called Sasquatch, Yeti, and perhaps most infamously, Bigfoot. We've hunted it for years. But what happens when it decides to hunt us?" Now suppose you read that on the back of a DVD box at your local video store. Would you put it back on the shelf? Hell no! You would get your ass up to the front register, check it out and burn rubber getting back home so you could make some popcorn and watch a fun monster movie. Am I right?
What you see is what you get, and truth be told, this is a "Fun" popcorn movie. I wish there were still Drive-Ins around, because I would be in Horror Heaven if I could sit in my car and watch this movie unfold on a giant outdoor movie screen. Maybe as a triple feature with "Slither" and "Feast".
The film follows wheelchair bound Preston Rogers (Matt McCoy) as he returns home following a mountain climbing accident that killed his wife and left him a paraplegic. It's bad enough to be house bound with an obnoxious male nurse (an outstanding performance by F/X maestro Christien Tinsley), but throw a bevy of beautiful young co-eds and a hungry Sasquatch into the mix and you have a flesh and blood show that just won't quit.
Kudos' go to director Ryan Schifrin for delivering the goods. Boobs, Blood, and Beasts are a tried and true formula and Ryan delivers them in spades! And Ryan, you get my personal thanks for hiring Tiffany Shepis and putting her in the shower scene. That and giving her one of the most uncomfortable death scenes I've seen in a long time. It had me squirming in my seat.
Look also for some great cameos with genre legends Lance Henriksen, Jeffrey Combs, and Dee Wallace-Stone.
